GPSR compliance for Authorised Representatives & EU Responsible Persons
Acting as the EU point of contact for non-EU manufacturers means keeping documentation to hand, liaising with authorities and coordinating recalls — often across many clients at once. SafeCart gives you a per-client view of products, obligations and Safety Gate activity in one place.
A product from outside the EU can only be placed on the market if there is an economic operator established in the Union responsible for compliance tasks (Article 16 of the GPSR) — the EU Responsible Person. An authorised representative (Article 10) performs tasks under a written mandate from the manufacturer. In both roles you keep technical documentation available, provide information to authorities on request, and cooperate on corrective action and recalls. When you carry that responsibility for multiple manufacturers, SafeCart's per-client structure keeps each mandate's products and obligations separate and auditable.
What the GPSR requires of authorised representatives & eu responsible persons
The obligations that come with your role under the EU General Product Safety Regulation.
Keep documentation available
Hold the EU declaration or technical documentation for the products you cover and make it available to market surveillance authorities on request.
Be the authority contact point
Act as the point of contact for authorities, providing information and cooperation in the languages required, and passing requests to the manufacturer.
Coordinate corrective action
Where a product presents a risk, ensure corrective action is taken and inform the manufacturer, cooperating on recalls and withdrawals.
Track obligations per mandate
Keep each manufacturer's mandate, product scope and compliance status distinct so responsibilities never blur across clients.
How SafeCart helps
Turn the ongoing parts of compliance — traceability and recall monitoring — into something you manage from one dashboard.
Per-client product portfolios
Organise products by the manufacturer you represent, so each mandate has its own catalogue, documentation and monitoring scope.
Safety Gate alerts across clients
SafeCart watches the EU Safety Gate for every product you are responsible for and routes a matching notice to the right client's file.
Audit-ready records
A logged trail of detections, reviews and recall actions per product gives you the evidence to answer authorities quickly.
Coordinated recall workflow
Drive corrective action from one place with notices pre-filled from official Safety Gate data, keeping manufacturers informed throughout.
Frequently asked questions
What is an EU Responsible Person under the GPSR?
Article 16 of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires that a product from outside the EU may only be placed on the market if an economic operator established in the Union is responsible for compliance tasks — the EU Responsible Person. That can be the manufacturer's EU establishment, an importer, an authorised representative, or a fulfilment service provider where no other operator applies.
What is the difference between an authorised representative and a Responsible Person?
An authorised representative (Article 10) is appointed by the manufacturer through a written mandate to perform specified tasks. The Article 16 'responsible person' is the broader requirement that some EU-established economic operator must be responsible for compliance tasks before a non-EU product is placed on the market. An authorised representative can fulfil that responsible-person role.
Can SafeCart handle multiple manufacturers I represent?
Yes. SafeCart supports per-client (tenant) organisation, so you can keep each manufacturer's products, documentation and Safety Gate monitoring separate while managing them from one account.
How do I show authorities I'm meeting my obligations?
SafeCart keeps an auditable trail of every recall detection, review and corrective action per product, so you can demonstrate that you monitored the market and responded appropriately for each mandate.
