Welcome to SafeCart. This guide walks you through setting up product safety monitoring for your business in just a few minutes. What you'll do: 1. Create your SafeCart account and sign in. 2. Add your products — manually, by CSV import, or by connecting your store. 3. Let SafeCart monitor them against the EU Safety Gate automatically. 4. Receive alerts and act on anything that gets flagged. You don't need any technical skills. Everything is done through the dashboard. When you first sign in, you'll land on your dashboard, which shows your monitored products and any active safety alerts.

The fastest way to start is to add a product manually: 1. Open the dashboard and choose "Add Product". 2. Enter the product name. 3. Enter the product's barcode or GTIN. 4. Save. That's all SafeCart needs to begin monitoring a product against the EU Safety Gate. You can optionally add more details — such as manufacturer or importer contact information — to build a more complete Product Safety Passport later. Tip: Accurate barcodes/GTINs lead to more precise matching against Safety Gate notifications.

If you have many products, import them all at once with a CSV file: 1. Download the CSV template from the import screen. 2. Fill in one row per product, including the product name and barcode/GTIN. 3. Save the file as CSV. 4. Upload it in the dashboard and confirm the import. SafeCart validates your file and adds the products to monitoring. If any rows have issues (for example, a missing barcode), you'll be told which ones so you can fix and re-upload them.

If you run a WooCommerce store, SafeCart can import your products automatically. There are two ways to connect. Start with the first — it takes about a minute and nothing needs to be installed. One-click connection (no plugin) 1. From your SafeCart account, open Connect store and enter your store URL. 2. Choose "Connect WooCommerce — one click". WooCommerce sends you to your own store admin and asks you to approve read-only API access for SafeCart. 3. Approve, and you are returned to SafeCart. Your catalogue is imported and every product is checked against the EU Safety Gate daily. This uses WooCommerce's built-in REST API authorisation. SafeCart receives read-only API keys — never your store password — and does not change your storefront, checkout, or customer experience. You can revoke the keys at any time under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API, or disconnect the store from Account settings → Integrations. To pick up products you add later, re-run the sync from Connect store. Plugin connection (adds recall actions) The "SafeCart for WooCommerce" plugin includes the same catalogue sync and additionally lets SafeCart act inside your store when a product is recalled: a kill switch that stops purchases of the affected product, storefront recall warnings, and GPSR safety information on product pages and in order emails. Install the plugin on your store, then connect it to SafeCart from the plugin's settings page in your WordPress admin. You can add the plugin to a store that is already connected through the API.

If you sell on eBay, you can connect your account to import your active listings for monitoring and publish GPSR compliance data directly onto them. The eBay connection is included on every plan. 1. From your SafeCart account, open Account settings → Integrations and select eBay (the Connect page offers the same eBay card). 2. Sign in through eBay's own authorisation screen. SafeCart never sees or stores your eBay password — only an encrypted access token you can revoke at any time. 3. Choose "Import listings" to bring your active eBay listings in for monitoring. 4. Once a Product Safety Passport has manufacturer and EU Responsible Person details, choose "Preview publish" to see what will change, then "Publish GPSR data" to write it onto the matching eBay listing. What SafeCart reads: each active listing's item number, title, SKU and EAN/GTIN, plus brand and model number where eBay provides them — one monitored product per sellable variation. Imported listings join your regular Safety Gate monitoring automatically, and the connection re-checks your listings daily so new ones are picked up without another import. What SafeCart writes: only the GPSR "regulatory" fields of a listing — the manufacturer's name, address, country, email and phone, and the EU Responsible Person's name, address, country, email, phone and contact URL. Titles, prices, stock, photos and descriptions are never changed. Permissions granted: by default SafeCart requests exactly two eBay OAuth scopes — https://api.ebay.com/oauth/api_scope/sell.inventory (read and revise your own listings) and the base https://api.ebay.com/oauth/api_scope. It does not request access to your orders, buyers or messages. Disconnecting (Account settings → Integrations → Disconnect) deletes the stored eBay tokens and stops SafeCart from writing to your listings, but keeps the products you've already imported under monitoring. You can also revoke SafeCart's access from your eBay account at any time. Connection last verified against eBay production: September 2026.

Once products are added, SafeCart does the watching for you: - New EU Safety Gate notifications are ingested from the official European Commission (SGIG) API every ~15 minutes. - Your catalogue is re-checked against the full notification set every hour. - If a product matches, it's flagged in your dashboard and you receive an email alert. You can manage how and when you're notified in your account settings. The dashboard always shows your current status at a glance, so you can see whether anything needs attention. When a product is flagged, SafeCart gives you the details of the matching Safety Gate notification so you can decide how to respond. Typical steps when a product is recalled: 1. Review the alert and confirm it applies to your product. 2. Stop selling the affected product where necessary. 3. Inform affected customers and authorities if required. 4. Use SafeCart's recall notice template to communicate clearly. 5. Keep a record of the actions you took. SafeCart helps you organise this response and maintain a history of your safety checks, which is useful evidence of due diligence under the GPSR.

A Product Safety Passport is SafeCart's name for a hosted record of a product's key safety and traceability information — its name, barcode/GTIN, manufacturer contact details, and any warnings. It is not a passport under the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). With SafeCart you can: - Create a Product Safety Passport for each product. - Host it at a shareable web address. - Generate a QR code that links to the Product Safety Passport. - Produce GPSR-aligned product-label templates to place on your packaging. This makes it easy for consumers and authorities to access up-to-date safety information about your products.

SafeCart offers two simple plans with the same complete feature set: Free for up to 100 monitored products, and Pro at €29/month for up to 1,000 monitored products plus priority email support. - Upgrade or change your plan from the pricing page or your account settings. - Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically. - You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of your billing period. - You can update notification preferences, manage your subscription, or delete your account and data from account settings.
