Why it's dangerous
The plastic material of the cable has an excessive concentration of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and short chained chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) (measured values up to 0.47%, 0.57% and 0.77% by weight, respectively). The solders in the charger have an excessive concentration of lead (measured value: 74.3 % by weight). DEHP, DBP and lead pose a risk to human health and the environment. SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bio-accumulate wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. Prolonged exposure to SCCPs through the skin may cause cancer.
