Why it's dangerous
The plastic material of the cable has an excessive concentration of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) (measured values: 8.7%, 0.23% and 2.05% by weight, respectively). These phthalates pose a risk to human health and the environment. The solders in the product have an excessive concentration of lead (measured value: up to 0.47% by weight). Lead poses a risk to the environment. SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bio-accumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment.
