Why it's dangerous
The rate of nickel release is too high (measured value up to 0.37 µg/cm2/week) and the product has an excessive concentration of cadmium (measured value: 75.8% by weight). Nickel is a strong sensitiser and causes allergic reactions if present in articles that come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. Cadmium is harmful to human health because it accumulates in the body, can damage the kidneys and bones and it may cause cancer.
